HEALING AND HOPE SCHOLARSHIP
The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois, through the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, is offering a $1,000 College Scholarship to a high school senior whose life embodies the philosophy of Share the Healing and Hope.  Applicants must be a member of his/her 2007 graduating class, a member of a parish with the Belleville, Illinois or Springfield, Illinois Diocese, or the St. Louis, Missouri Archdiocese, and enrolled as a full-time student in an institution of higher learning by August 2007.  Applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, January 16, 2007.  For details or an application, contact Mary Agnes Schlather in the Shrine Marketing department at 618-397-6700, ext. 6292.

GATEWAY YOUNG ACHIEVERS PROGRAM

Nominations are being sought for the Gateway Young Achievers Program.  The Young Achievers Program encourages student leaders by recognizing and applauding positive achievement, leadership and behavior.  Youth Achievers are…

  • Students in 5th - 10th grades,

  • Positive role models,

  • Successful Achievers in a variety of areas,

  • Good citizens in their schools and communities,

  • Competent scholars with good attendance records

Gateway Young Achievers receive certificates of Achievement, photographs and T-Shirts during the annual May Recognition Program.  They are recognized in photographic Showcase displays in major shopping centers in the area.  The photography and preparation in the Showcases are provided by Phoenix and Cedarleaf Studios, with no cost or obligation to the parents, students, schools or nominators.  A student may be recognized as a Young Achiever two times with two years between recognition.  Young Achievers are announced on the iln-gateway.org website.

50 Young Achievers Medallions and $50 gift certificates are presented in recognition of outstanding achievement.   12 Young Achiever of the Year Awards are presented, two in each of the following categories.  Each receives a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bonds and is nominated for national recognition by
International Leadership Network.

  • Elementary school (Grade 5-6)

  • Middle School (Grades 7-8)

  • High School (Grades 9-10)

  • Community Service (Grades 5-10)

  • Leadership (Grades (5-10)

  • Music (Grades 5-10)

Nomination forms must be post marked by November 15.  Young Achievers will be notified by January 15.  Contact Kyle for more information.
